Little Scoopers Lacrosse Camp

Lacrosse is the fastest growing team sport in America.  The Shakopee Lacrosse Association is offering a camp for both girls and boys to introduce them to the sport.  The skills that will be taught are: catching, throwing, scooping and cradling.  Participants will be divided by age and skill level.  All equipment will be provided.  Participants will also receive a t-shirt

INTRO TO LACROSSE

Intro to Lacrosse- Clinic for beginners

Shakopee Lacrosse Association will be holding another Introduction to Lacrosse Clinic.   This Clinic is open to Boys and Girls in grades 3-8.    Lacrosse is fast paced and full of action.   It is a combination of basketball, soccer and hockey skills and anyone can play (big, small, fast or slow).   The clinic will focus on the fundamentals of the game and will be very fun for the kids.  All equipment will be provided by the Association. 

This is a great way to try to the sport before making a commitment to it.

THE BEST PART:  IT'S FREE!!!

Who: Boys & Girls 3rd-8th Grade

When:  Monday's, Sept 22 - Oct 20

6:00- 7:00

WHERE:  Eagle Creek Elem.

WHAT TO BRING:  Athletic clothes, tennis shoes & water bottle.

If you have a lacrosse stick - you can bring it, a smile and a desire to have to fun!

Girls Lacrosse Clinic 3rd-6th Grade

~~~~Lacrosse is fast paced and full of action.   It is a combination of basketball, soccer and hockey skills and anyone can play (big, small, fast or slow).   The clinic will focus on the fundamentals of the game.

The clinic will be focused on developing various lacrosse skills (passing, catching, shooting, cradling, ground balls, etc).

What is Lacrosse?   

The sport of lacrosse is a combination of basketball, soccer and hockey. Anyone can play lacrosse - big or small.  The game requires and rewards coordination and agility. Quickness and speed are two highly prized qualities in lacrosse not size.  It's an exhilarating sport that is fast-paced and full of action. Long sprints up and down the field with abrupt starts and stops, precision passes and dodges are routine in men's lacrosse. Lacrosse is played with a stick, the crosse, which is used to scoop, throw, catch and shoot the ball.

Fun Facts: Did you know Lacrosse is the fastest growing team sport in the United States?  In 2001, the total number of lacrosse players (those who play on organized teams) was 253,931.  In 2011, that number was 684,730 - a 170% increase in a decade.  Youth participation in the sport has grown over 125% since 2001 and no sport has grown faster at the high school level.  The 2009 US Lax Participating Survey states, "Minnesota is one of the quickly-developing lacrosse markets and features nearly 5,000 youth players. That’s an increase of 18.1% over 2008 numbers."

Mission Statement of Shakopee Lacrosse Association is  introducing lacrosse to the community of all ages so they can discover, learn, participate in, and enjoy lacrosse. To teach players the fundamental skills and techniques that are needed to be successful to succeed on and off the field. The ultimate goal is to make Lacrosse a positive and fun experience for the players, parents, and coaches.

Syncing your smart phone calendar with the website Calendar

Please make sure you sync your smartphone to receive automatic updates on calendar changes (additions, cancellations, changes).  You will need to verify that your smartphone accepts iCalendar Feeds or it will not work.  Here are the steps:

  • Go to the Calendar on the website
  • Select your team from the Tag Menu (Ex: U13 Spring).  You can select multiple teams.  Make sure you don't have any unwanted Tags selected or you will get all of those events on your phone calendar
  • Select the "Subscribe to iCal Feed" at the bottom of the calendar
  • Follow the instructions from there

Any changes that are made to the calendar on the website will be automatically updated on your phone.  This also saves manually entering all of the events on your phone.
